Afetr not hearing a word from Zemismart for what seems like a lifetime (probably a couple of years) I just got some new toys from them. They’re well aware that this may turn out well – or not.So let’s “dive in” as others often say unimaginitely.
There’s generally not much you can say about smart switches these days but I’ll do my best – this one is WIFI and needs the Tuya or Smartlife app.I just happen to have the Smartlife app on my phone. So I plugged in the SRS01-P2TW to the mains using one of the two LIVE connectors and the one and only neutral connector on the unit.
I’ve not bothered connecting a load as most switches are 10A max load today and at least Zemismart were honest enough to clearly state on the box that this is the maximum RESISTIVE load per output (2 outputs). My rule of thumb would be maybe 6-7A if using an inductive load – if you’ve no idea what that means – don’t wire up smart plugs yourself. So, plugged into power, I opened the app and told the App I wanted to add a device (+) – no more than that.
And as if my magic, a notification popped up showing the new device by name (SRS01-2PM for Power Monitoring). At this point I twigged that this Zemismart device has both Bluetooth and WiFi – hence the ability to connect up BEFORE I tell it about my access point.Nothing particularly new there.
From there on it got easier – notice to say the SRS01-2PM was being added, then added successfully, then up came the first screen showing the 2 on-off controls and buttons at the botttom for “All On”, timer, electric, settings and “All off”.The buttons change colour when in the ON state and the consumption page shows today’s KW use and current, power, voltage and total KW.The settigns page – well, that’s very comprehensive and includes optional timeouts and much more for those who won’t be using this switch along with some central home automation system.
So what next? I went into my home Assistant – the TUYA integration and as usual by simply entering my user code and telling HA to add a new “hub” – the device appeared in Home Assistant.Nice – there’s a bi-colour indicator on the bottom of the unit you can conrtol in the settings or just turn off.In all, up to now, no issues at all with this little device.
The instructions show you that to control the two outputs locally, you fasten possibly original wall switches between live and the S1 and s2 connectors.Of course, unlike some zigbee units and one particularly innovative Sonoff unit (with “magic switch”) – you can’t use these without a neutral (not all wall sockets have neutral available).
